After a lengthy stay in Brookline’s Washington Square, Athan’s Bakery has finally opened an additional location right here in Brighton Center! Patrons of their Washington Square location will recall that while the decor and seating were very cozy, there was not enough room to sit for awhile and really unwind – until now. It’s great to have such a fine addition to the neighborhood. Any visitor to Athan’s Washington Square location will recall that their baked goods and gelato are extremely high quality and pleasing to the palate. In a pinch, if you need to bring a cake to a party, Athan’s is your best bet. I brought their Black Forest Mousse Torte to a book club meeting and got nothing but rave reviews (and yes, I was upfront that this serving of culinary perfection was not of my own making). Other sure bets are their Citron and Napoleon pastries. In addition to a great selection of baked goods, baklava, and individual pastries, their gelato is probably the best outside of the North End. What I think folks will really come to love about this new Athan’s, besides being a free wireless spot, is that they are the only cafe in Brighton Center open until 11pm every single night. Paging other student night owls!
